A Little About Me
I was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA as my father was doing his Master's Degree there. Then, we moved back to Saudi Arabia and I got enrolled in the education process. Luckily, I had the chance to study in different areas and regions in Saudi Arabia as we used to move every now and then from a region to another due to my father's job nature which allowed me to get used to different cultures, customs, and traditions, as well as helped me getting the ability to get a long with new people easily.
We settled down finally in Jeddah (located in the western region of SA) as we had already finished schools and were about to start the university life. I joined the School of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University in 2000 and graduated in 2007. Then, I worked as a Plastic Surgery Resident Physician at King Fahad General Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for about two and a half years. I resigned after that from my job and left everything behind as I got a scholarship from Saudi Arabian government to USA again to pursue my post graduate studies.
Since I joined the medical school, being an active person, I was seeking all extra activities that I could participate in besides my medical training as I didn’t see that being only a “DOCTOR” was enough for me without contributing a noticeable impact on the surrounding community at least. Starting from the second year, I was being recognized in the fields of extracurricular activities and holding responsibilities in my class. Since then, I’ve participated in many activities that served mainly the college of medicine and particularly medical students.
I grew up and my dreams kept getting bigger. I started to hold more extracurricular responsibilities within the college and I became one of the very well known students to seek help from. Especially, issues regarding activities, symposiums, medical conferences, as well as charity teams and intellectual forums. I found myself helping whoever was in need among colleagues in many aspects and actually loving to do that. Also, I have dedicated myself to do whatever it takes to help the community of medical students to move to higher levels of giving and loyalty. By time, I became a valuable member of many teams and committees in the college as shown in my resume. I have also organized and participated in many local, national, and international events with great outcome and I was always welcomed to join or to propose an opinion in different aspects in the college regarding curricular and extracurricular issues. I was also one of the founders of the “Medical Students Research Club” which was the first research club to be created for medical students in the kingdom. The idea was raised after the dramatic lack of research experience among medical students.
Apart from my medicine life, I'm a devoted Manchester United fan and Apple Macintosh fan. I also had many other non-medical interests (browse my website for details) that I tried hardly to develop through out my studying years despite all difficulties and obstacles of studying medicine. Fortunately, I was able to keep them all together till I became officially a doctor. For that, I was known to have the ability of multi-tasking with a highly motivated spirit.
I have been following a career path in the field of Hospital Administration and Healthcare Management. I have taken several qualification in Healthcare Management and Leadership, Strategic Project Management, and Healthcare Performance. Currently, I am working at the Ministry of Health (MOH) as the Director of the Regional Health Command Center (RHCC) in Jeddah region, Saudi Arabia.
My biggest achievements so far, that I was a member of a team of inventors for a medical device called "Pneumatic Circulatory Enhancer for Diabetic Leg Therapy", which enhances blood flow to lower limbs in diabetic patients and patients with symptoms of lower limb ischemia. We were so proud to receive a patent for this invention from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on 16th of May, 2017.
